CONDITIONS WE SUPPORT
Start wherever you are.
You don't need a diagnosis, a referral, or any test results to come and see us. Check the list below for the issues we commonly see and support.
01
I have a diagnosed lung condition
Your medication manages the condition. Our physiotherapy input works on everything around it including: how you breathe, how you clear your chest, and how much you can do before it stops you.
Asthma
Bronchiectasis
COPD
Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia
Lung Cancer
Cystic Fibrosis
Neuromuscular Conditions
02
My breathing just doesn't feel quite right
No diagnosis, no tests, nothing anyone has been able to name. You may sense that breathing takes more effort than it should, or your cough just won't go. We can start where you are as it is often a pattern that can be retrained.
Breathlessness
Sighing
Yawning
Anxiety
Air hunger
Chronic Cough
Nasal Blockage
Breath never satisfying
03
I'm recovering from surgery, illness or infection
The infection cleared but your breathing didn't improve as expected. After pneumonia, surgery or a hospital stay, breathing can continue to cause frustration. We can support your recovery, retraining and pacing. Long COVID has strong links with the autonomic nervous system. By retraining the breath, one of the only autonomic body functions we can control, we can learn to calm our nervous system.
Long COVID
Discharged from hospital
Chest Infection
Pneumonia
Post-surgery
Intensive care/ICU stay
04
It's my child I'm worried about
Children require a different approach. Our assessments are unhurried and fun but remain thorough. We need you in the room, what you've noticed at home is evidence, and it usually matters more than any single measurement.
Asthma
Chronic Cough
Weak cough
Primary Ciliary Dyskinesia
SMA
Cystic Fibrosis
Muscular dystrophy
Recurrent infections
None of these quite fit? That's common, and it isn't a problem.
Let's talk it through and see how we can support you or scroll down and take our quick quiz.

WHAT TO EXPECT
Nobody is rushed, and
everything is explained.
BEFORE
Come as you are
Listening is the foundation of everything we do. If you have not seen a respiratory physiotherapist before, here is how a first appointment works, start to finish.
LENGTH
1 hour 15 minutes for a first assessment, 60 minutes for follow-ups.
WHERE
At home anywhere in Cornwall, from Penzance to Camborne, Truro to Bodmin and anywhere in between, or online across the UK.
TRAVEL
Included in the visit price no mileage added afterwards.
REFERRAL
Not needed. You can book directly, and we are happy to liaise with your GP.

You do not need the right words or a tidy explanation. Many people arrive feeling unheard or dismissed, and that is a perfectly good place to begin. There is a short intake form to complete beforehand, and nothing else to prepare.
If you would rather check we are the right fit first, there is a free 15 minute call. Otherwise just wear comfortable clothing and have any inhalers or devices you use available, so we can go through them together.
ON THE DAY
Listening comes first
Your first appointment lasts an hour and a quarter and begins with your story rather than a checklist: not just your symptoms, but how they affect your daily life and what you have already tried.
A full assessment follows, grounded in current evidence and significant respiratory experience, and explained as we go. Questionnaires and outcome measures give us a baseline to track, so you leave with a clear picture of what is happening in your body and why.
AFTERWARDS
A plan in writing
No two people experience symptoms in the same way, so your plan is shaped around your needs, your goals and your lifestyle. You receive it in writing with a detailed report, and where it helps we will discuss it with your GP or arrange onward referral.
The plan takes in the bigger picture: your breathing pattern, your physical symptoms and whatever else is contributing. How many sessions you need varies, and we will always be honest with you about what is realistic.
WHAT IT COSTS
No hidden costs, ever.
Online appointments and home visits are priced separately. Travel anywhere in Cornwall is already included in the home visit price, with no mileage added afterwards.
One-to-one assessment
1 hour 15 minutes, for adults and children alike. Includes a written report, your plan, and discussion with your GP or onward referral where it is needed.

ABOUT US

Specialist breathing care that starts with your story.
Esanella is Cornish for "Exhale". An exhale is more than just a breath out. It is a moment to pause, reset and feel a sense of relief. At Esanella Physiotherapy we aim to create a space where you can take a breath, feel heard and move forward with clarity and confidence.
We understand that many people come to us feeling frustrated, unheard or unsure why their symptoms persist. That's why we place a real emphasis on listening carefully and understanding your individual experience. Your story is central to how we assess and treat you with every treatment plan carefully personalised to your needs, goals and lifestyle.
We combine experience, expertise and evidence with a genuine compassion and commitment to helping you feel supported, understood and more in control of your breathing and health.
